Expedition files is a spin-off from Discovery Channel's "Expedition unknown" hosted by Josh Gates. I've done a lot of work for this show over the years, and learned a lot about storytelling in the process.
Josh has a gift for making complicated, remote or obscure stories feel immediate. learning how to simplify ideas to make them vibrant and engaging has changed my storytelling abilities for the better.
This show was a particular challenge from the get-go. We were incorporating recreation shoot footage, host wraps filmed on a Volume wall, archival material and some AI generated imagery to tell the stories. Josh wasn't available until late in the process so much of the offline work was done with temp voices and placeholders, which made editing a challenge, especially with music and having to anticipate sound design.
